The Battle For Public Opinion
I think there are many contributions to the dynamic of online landscapes and how they have been transformed through the dissemination of information and freedom of perspective across digital networks. The freedom that comes along with voicing all elements of public opinion has its drawbacks on society as there are many elements of judgments and negative connotations that come with an individual voicing how they may feel about something. It should also be considered that when someone states how they feel about something, controversial or not, there is usually an individual out there who disagrees with the statement they are making. I believe that the rapid dissemination of information and the ability for anyone to voice their perspectives online has created tension, conflict, and judgment among individuals in our society. This can also impact interpersonal relationships as you may not feel as comfortable sharing the information you choose in comparison to what someone else might want to share. There is privacy in regard to how you handle your interpersonal relationships online and how you communicate with individuals digitally.
The #MeToo movement was a campaign that was once started to fight against sexual harassment and abuse, especially in the workplace in the following years of its original start day it was popularized over Twitter and it grew a massive following and positive change and attention through its online and in-person efforts and advocacy.
There are many ethical considerations that individuals and organizations should consider when participating in the battle for public view online, I think that staying natural in your companies perspectives and opinions is important especially when you are not a declared biased company and the way that you portray yourself across social media and through online platforms should represent your values, morals, and missions as a company.
